How should one apply sunless tanning?

Prior to the application of the tanning spray, it is highly recommended that you shave your hair and have a reasonable scrub bath/shower to remove all your dead skin cells and debris. Dry your self and cover your eyes. The lotion or spray is then applied evenly on the entire body surface. To avoid staining your clothes, wait at least 20-30 minutes before getting dressed.

When do I see results of sunless tanning?

In most individuals, some change in skin color is visible in an hour after application, but the maximal effect is not visible for about 12-24 hours

How long does sunless tanning last?

Once your tan has been developed, it will gradually start to fade over the next 3-4 days. In most cases, the tan will last for about 4-7 days.

Are sunless tanning products safe?

Yes, Sunless tanning products are generally safe when applied on the body. However, you must ensure that you do not get the tan in your eyes. It is recommended that one wear swimming goggles or cover the eyes with cotton while the spray is being applied. If the spray does get in your eye, wash your eyes under water for at least 15-30 minutes.

What are sunless tanning pills?

Recently sunless tanning pills have also become available and are sold on cyberspace. These pills are not approved by the FDA and are considered unsafe for human use. The pills do work and can change color of your skin but the chemicals can also form crystals in your eye and other parts of the body. Other reported side effects of these pills include bloating, abdominal, cramps and diarrhea. The pills do not work right away and often fail to tan your skin. So if you have any common sense, stay away from these pills.
