Sunless tanning

Now that summer is finally here, everyone wants a great tan. However, for many of us who live in North America, sunshine is not a promise every single day. Further, too much sun is also not good for skin. So how can one get a beautiful, sexy tan?

In the last two decades, sunless tanning products have become widely available. These products can produce an immediate bronzed look which looks glamorous. In addition, sunless tanning also avoids the risks associated from UV rays that occur from sun exposure.

The majority of sunless products on the market in North America have been FDA approved for sale to the public.

Sunless tanning products are available in many formulations such as creams, gels, lotions and even sprays. The chief ingredient in these products is dihydroxyacetone (DHA). If the product does not contain DHA, then you should not buy it.

DHA acts by merging with the most superficial layers of skin and inducing a dark tan. DHA has a robust attraction for superficial skin cells and does not easily come off even with washing. Once the superficial skin has been tanned, the color remains on the body until the cells are shed -which in most cases is about 5-7 days.

Sunless tanning is now commonly accessible at most spas and salons.
